Livelihoods and Economic Growth
In line with the Kenya Youth Development Policy (KYDP) 2019, IHOPE Foundation focuses on skills development and work readiness through technical training, mentorship, information sharing, linkages and awareness programmes. It also facilitates access to formal and informal employment opportunities to support sustainable livelihoods.
Our interventions target young people (as defined by Article 290 of the 2010 CoK) aged 18-34, equipping them with the skills and resources they need to improve their economic potential and overall quality of life. We endeavour to promote essential soft and core skills that not only enhance employability, but also enable long-term career growth. Financial literacy, entrepreneurship, empowering young people to initiate and sustain income-generating activities (IGAs) in urban and rural areas have become key priority intervention areas.
We are working with various partners and stakeholders to strengthen agribusiness initiatives, establish entrepreneurship resource centres, and ultimately work with young people and their communities to increase incomes and improve living standards.
IHOPE Foundation is committed to empowering vulnerable youth, young women, and persons with disabilities by building their capacity for sustainable economic opportunities.
Our key objectives include:
- Enhancing youth education and career development to increase employment opportunities.
- Encouraging entrepreneurship and enterprise development among youth and vulnerable populations, promoting best practices in agribusiness and entrepreneurship for sustainable livelihoods.
- Empowering young people, including women and persons with disabilities, with relevant skills and resources to access opportunities, information, and networks leading to gainful employment or entrepreneurship.
- Establishing an innovative, youth-led job creation model that is sustainable and youth-friendly.
Through these initiatives, IHOPE Foundation aims to build a generation of empowered, self-reliant, and economically capable youth.
