(Empowering Girls Through Menstrual Health Management & SRHR Advocacy)
IHOPE Foundation, in partnership with donors and local stakeholders, has directly supported 4,500 girls across Siaya, Homa-bay and Migori Counties with comprehensive menstrual health education and sustainable sanitary pad distribution—ensuring they stay in school year-round.
Our holistic approach to menstrual hygiene management (MHM) includes:
- Access to Water & Safe Spaces: Advocating for clean water, washing materials, and private facilities in homes and public spaces to uphold dignity and health.
- Pain Management & Education: Addressing menstrual discomfort and stigma through capacity-building workshops for girls, caregivers, and communities.
- • Eco-Friendly Solutions: Partnering with schools to promote safe reuse/disposal of menstrual waste, leveraging local innovations for sustainability.
Integrating SRHR for Lifelong Impact
We’ve successfully mainstreamed Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) into our programs by:
✔ Delivering accurate SRHR information through school sessions.
✔ Connecting youth to confidential support via hotlines and youth-friendly health centers.
✔ Engaging boys as allies to foster inclusive dialogue and challenge harmful norms.
Tangible Results Over 3 Years
- 3,600+ menstrual hygiene kits distributed to at-risk girls.
- Improved school attendance and retention rates among beneficiaries.
- Policy Advocacy: Pushing schools to adopt girl-friendly facilities and innovative waste disposal systems.
IHOPE Foundation believes that in linking menstrual health with SRHR education, we empower girls to make informed choices—breaking barriers to education, health, and gender equality.
